13 Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Pelvic Floor Rebalancing?

Pelvic Floor Rebalancing (Gyno-Fascial Rebalancing) is a specialized technique that focuses on the alignment and functional health of the pelvis. By releasing tension in the muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor, we promote better posture, enhance core strength, and address symptoms related to reproductive health, bladder control, and sexual wellness. This method integrates chiropractic adjustments with internal and external fascial work, restoring balance from the inside out.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Healing and transformation take time, especially when addressing long-standing patterns of tension and misalignment in the body. My approach to chiropractic care involves gradually adjusting your system over multiple visits to support nervous system balance, release tension, and improve overall function. By focusing on the root of the female body and integrating somatic and energy work, we facilitate the release of blockages and help you feel more grounded in your body.

Based on current fascial research, it’s often recommended that individuals receive around six hours of bodywork for optimal therapeutic benefit. However, for those with deep-seated, chronic issues, additional sessions may be necessary. I begin by offering a foundational package of 6-8 sessions, which allows us to make significant progress. After completing these sessions, we can re-evaluate and determine if further care is needed, tailoring a wellness plan that suits your specific needs.

How Long Is Each Session, What Should I Expect During a Pelvic Floor Session?

Your first session will be an hour start with a detailed discussion of your health history, goals, and concerns. I’ll also provide a basic introduction to pelvic anatomy using a model to ensure you feel informed and comfortable. After answering any questions, we’ll move on to a physical assessment.

During the session, I’ll assess your pelvic muscles internally to evaluate how they engage during a Kegel (pelvic squeeze). Treatment techniques may include intravaginal massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, breathwork, and guided visualizations to restore both physical and energetic balance. Each session also includes an assessment of the pelvic joints, with adjustments made as necessary, and ends with personalized pelvic self-care recommendations.

Unlike traditional medical exams that focus on checking for abnormalities using a speculum, my work emphasizes the alignment of the skeletal system, the positioning of the pelvic organs, and the health of the muscles and fascia in the pelvic floor. Many women describe their sessions as a much warmer, more personalized experience, leaving them feeling more connected to their bodies, grounded, and aware of their pelvic space. Many also notice improved energy flow, reduced symptoms, and increased strength in their pelvic floor muscles.

The first session consists of an intake, exam & 15-20 minutes of bodywork

Each follow up session is 45 minutes of bodywork

Is Gyno Fascial Rebalancing Painful?

Not necessarily, but sometimes parts of the process can have a little intensity, especially if there are long-standing patterns of tension or trauma in the pelvic area. However, the goal is always to work within your comfort level. I use a trauma-informed approach, so sessions are paced according to your body’s needs, and we will regularly check in with your comfort during treatment.

How Does Pelvic Floor Rebalancing Support Reproductive Health?

Pelvic Floor Rebalancing can enhance reproductive health by improving circulation, releasing blockages, and aligning the pelvic organs. It supports the body's natural functions by addressing imbalances that may contribute to menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain, and even challenges with fertility. Many women also find that this work can enhance body awareness.

Do I have to do the Gyno-Fascial stuff, or can I just come in for an adjustment?

No, you do not have to schedule a Gyno-Fascial (pelvic floor) appointment if you only want a chiropractic adjustment. I offer separate services for chiropractic adjustments and Gyno-Fascial work. However, if you choose a Gyno-Fascial session, it will include an adjustment as part of the comprehensive care provided during that appointment. You are welcome to book whichever service best fits your needs.

What About Insurance?

I am currently out-of-network with insurance companies, but if your plan offers out-of-network chiropractic benefits, I can provide a superbill for reimbursement. Sometimes this will cover part of the cost of care, depending on your insurance provider.

Do I have to get "cracked" when coming to the chiropractor? What is that cracking sound?

No, you don’t have to get "cracked" during a chiropractic adjustment. The cracking sound is simply gas releasing from the joint, not your bones cracking. There are many gentle techniques available that don’t involve the popping sound, and you can still experience positive changes without it. If you prefer a gentler approach, I can accommodate that while still helping you achieve the results you need.

Once I Start Chiropractic Care, Do I Have to Keep Going Forever?

A common misconception is that once you start chiropractic care, you need to continue indefinitely. The truth is, while many people choose to make chiropractic care a part of their long-term wellness routine, it’s not a requirement. The goal of chiropractic treatment is to address specific issues and help your body function at its best. After completing a care plan, you can decide if you want to continue with periodic maintenance visits or return as needed when discomfort arises.

What Is Maintenance or Recovery Care, and Why Is It Important?

Just like going to the dentist regularly or getting routine maintenance for your car, chiropractic care works best when you support your body consistently. After addressing your initial concerns, maintenance care helps keep your spine and pelvis aligned, preventing the recurrence of discomfort or dysfunction. Over time, life’s daily stresses—whether physical (think desk jobs and the cellphone!), mental, or emotional—can create imbalances, and regular chiropractic care ensures your system stays balanced and healthy. Think of it as ongoing care for your body to help prevent small issues from turning into bigger ones.

How Is Chiropractic Care Different from Physical Therapy?

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring spinal and pelvic alignment, which helps the nervous system function properly and promotes overall health. Physical therapy often focuses more on strengthening muscles and improving mobility. Both approaches can be complementary, but chiropractic care typically addresses the deeper structural imbalances that contribute to dysfunction, particularly in relation to the spine, pelvis, and nervous system.

Can I Receive Chiropractic Adjustments if I’m Pregnant?

Yes! Chiropractic care during pregnancy can help alleviate discomfort, improve pelvic alignment, and support a more balanced posture as your body changes. I offer techniques that are safe and supportive throughout all stages of pregnancy, designed to reduce back pain, prepare the pelvis for birth, and enhance overall comfort. You can not however, receive Gyno-Fascial rebalancing while pregnant. As my mentor once said, “It is not a good idea to disturb the nest.”

Can Men Receive Treatment at Your Practice?

While my practice is focused on women’s health, particularly sexual and reproductive wellness, I welcome all individuals who are seeking support for pelvic health, spinal alignment, or general well-being. The techniques I use can benefit anyone, regardless of gender. Men can experience issues like pelvic misalignment, hip pain, and nervous system imbalances, and chiropractic care can provide effective relief for these concerns.
